Just wanted to let everyone know I am going to be walking the UNH campus with Michael Dirr on Friday. I will update with pictures and information. He is a well known expert on plant material in the horticultural industry. I am excited that my name was chosen in a lottery to walk with him and a small group of other professionals.
Please, lets get this blog going………..ask some questions!

What were the specific trees that were talked about?
I actually taped the whole conversation and will decipher within the next few days. Great day for everyone, beautiful weather and walking with Michael Dirr was quite exciting. I do know that one of the trees we talked about was a silver maple and the nasty mess it can cause. We talked mostly about noble trees which he explained has the following qualifications:
Immense in stature
Spans generations
Architecturally elegant
Skyway to heaven
Squirrel byways
Inspiring
Spiritual
Big feet
More tree wisdom to come!
Who is Michael Dirr……..to us horticulturists he is the well known author of many books pertaining to the tree and shrub world. Mr. Dirr never ceases to amaze me with his knowledge and I have had the priviledge to walk with him on the UNH campus a few weeks ago. Although I have taped the whole conversation I am attaching the information sheet he handed to us in his afternoon lecture at the Thompson School of Applied Science at UNH. If I can figure out how to post they are in PDF files and full of detailed information on Noble Trees!!!!!!!!! So when you are thinking about planting trees, Dirr has a view on some interesting varieties that most people don’t know about.
Looks like I am going to need some help uploading images onto my blog…………..HELP
