Pruning your Endless Summer Hydrangea October 20, 2009

Endless Summer Hydrangeas bloom on both old and new wood.  If you hack it down now, yes you will still get blooms next year but I suggest that you just take the flower heads off at the end of the season.  There are flower buds from this season already set and will bloom next season as well as the flowers that set next year on the new growth.  With both the old and new you should get an abundance of flowers next season.  When in doubt about what hydrangea you have and how to prune either ID it to research the proper pruning or leave it alone!
